RATA Inc.

Vision: To be a professional adventure therapy body that provides the opportunity for therapeutic experiences.
Mission: 1. To promote the professional practice of adventure therapy;
2. To provide adventure therapy programmes in a safe and supportive environment.

Rotorua Adventure Therapy Aotearoa Incorporated (RATA Inc) became an Incorporated Society on July 1st, 2004 . RATA Inc is one of the first organisations to be established for the sole purpose of forwarding the professional practice of Adventure Therapy.

Adventure Therapy is an internationally recognised form of therapy that combines various physical and psychological activities, often in an outdoor natural setting, with therapeutic change processes.

RATA Inc is based in Rotorua, Aotearoa/ New Zealand, surrounded by forest, lakes, and thermal landscapes. This enables programmes to include tramping, hiking, camping, kayaking, waka ama, rock climbing, abseiling, high ropes courses, mountain biking and use of team initiative activities in both outdoor and indoor settings.

The members of RATA Inc are a group of people who are passionate about Adventure Therapy development, recognition and the delivery of practice. We currently have members on the committee who have a diverse range of knowledge, skills and experience and come from backgrounds including Adventure Therapy, social work, psychology, youth work, counselling, outdoor recreation, health promotions and youth health.
